When choosing a church for your baby's baptism, you should ideally consider your local parish church or whether you have any other particular links with a different church.

If you are interested in having your baby or child baptised (sometimes called a christening) at St Mary’s Church White Waltham, please come along to a Sunday service and chat to our vicar about it.

We rejoice with you and give thanks for the life of your child, and so our policy is that everyone first has a ‘Thanksgiving service’. It is a joyful occasion of thanksgiving for family and friends. It does not require you to make any promises or declare your Christian faith. It is a great way to come and find out what church life is about, which is part of what baptism means.

After that, and as you become comfortable belonging to our church family, you can, if you wish, plan for a baptism service. To make sure these are meaningful occasions for everyone involved we want to make sure that you understand what baptism is and what it isn’t and the promises and declarations you will be making. This will mean coming along to our Sunday meetings, having some meetings with the vicar to discuss the Christian faith, and will include a commitment from the church family to help you as you help your child to grow to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

We also love to provide opportunities for baptism for those who weren't baptised as babies but who have come to faith in Jesus Christ and are now teenagers or adults. Please do get in touch with us if that is the case for you.
